FAQ

Where do you source your mushrooms and how are they grown?

Our Cordyceps Sinensis are sourced ethically from the Himalayas in Kachin State, Myanmar. Our Lion's Mane, Turkey Tail, and Reishi are grown by a medical-grade organic producer in Vietnam.

What extraction processes are used in making these products?

A major challenge in extracting molecules from a complex matrix in a sustainable way is that these molecules are usually embedded within the matrix.
At Potent, we use Ultrasound Assisted Extraction (UAE) for enhanced yields with minimal impact on the quality of the end product.
UAE (Ultrasound Assisted Extraction) is the method of using ultrasound as a pre-treatment step or during SLE (Solid Liquid Extraction) itself.

How long should I use these supplements?

Forever!

How long do they last after opening?

The average shelf life of glycerin based products is 1 year.

How long after starting should I feel the effects?

For the Lion's Mane, you should start to feel the effects after 1 week of continuous consumption.
Cordyceps Sinensis extracts kick in after about 45 minutes to 1 hour after consumption.

Why do these products taste sweet?

What you're tasting is glycerine, which we use as a preservative and binder for our products. Glycerine is a clear liquid typically made from soybean, coconut or palm oils. It is odorless and has a mild, sweet taste with a syrup-like consistency. It is a type of sugar alcohol. Sugar alcohols provide a sweetness and mouth feel similar to sugar, without all the calories and unwanted metabolic effects. Basically, it's a 'sweet' tasting molecule that won't spike your blood sugar or insulin.

Are these products keto-friendly?

Yes! Our products contain glycerin, which is a sugar alcohol that does not spike insulin or blood sugar and allows you to stay in ketosis.

Are these gluten free?

Yes! Our products contain no gluten in any part of the production process.

Are these products vegan?

Cordyceps sinensis is an entomopathogenic fungus. That means that the fungus grows on insects and will eventually consume the insect's body and colonize it with mycelium. Since there is no more insect matter remaining in our cordyceps fruiting bodies, they are indeed vegan.
Our lion's mane, reishi, and turkey tail are all vegan.

Will these products interact with my medication?

There is a real risk of any dietary supplement, our tinctures included, changing the absorption, metabolism, or excretion of a medication and therefore its potency.
If you’re planning a surgery, be aware that some dietary supplements can interact in a harmful way with medications you need to take before, after, or during that surgery.
It is good practice to disclose all supplements you are taking to your healthcare practitioner so they can advise you on which ones you can take.

Which products help with energy levels?

Cordyceps Sinensis increases the body’s production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is essential for delivering energy to the muscles. This may improve the way your body utilizes oxygen. If you are looking for an energy boost, try one of our cordyceps products.

Which products help with brain fog and attention?

Lion’s Mane encourages the stimulation of nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein essential for the function and health of neurons and nerve cells. Lion's Mane is generally recognized for lifting brain fog and improving focus.
