POTENT: began in Myanmar, when our love of fungi pulled us deep into it's jungles and woodlands. What has always excited us about Myanmar is its extraordinary diversity. Within half a day's travel, the landscape shifts entirely. The Himalayas give way to jungles, jungles open into woodland forests, and woodland forests dissolve into drylands. Each biome is its own world. Each world demonstrating a different way for life to adapt, evolve, and endure.

Myanmar is an extraordinary place to learn. Our local forests were places of intense competition to survive. The sheer density of living things pressing against one another produced remarkably potent fungi that thrived in complex environments that you simply do not find anywhere else. We spent years walking through those environments, learning as we went. We foraged, we studied with local friends, we ate what we found. And we felt the difference.

Wild functional fungi, consumed as nature made them, changed our bodies, our minds and energy levels. We learned that the evidence was not always in an academic paper. But it was undeniable. One of us recovered from a traumatic brain injury by using Lion's Mane for 6 months. That change became the reason this company exists.

Having felt what wild mushrooms could do first, we knew the standard to uphold. Not the compromised extracts or under-dosed capsules that filled the market. Something closer to what we had experienced in the forest. Potent, pure, and made to respect all the compounds the organism had evolved to create.

POTENT: began as a way to bring that quality to the people around us, to our community. We started at farmers' markets in Yangon, and music festivals across Thailand, serving mushroom teas and watching the same thing happen to people that had happened to us. They felt it. They came back.

That is still why we do this. Not because functional mushrooms are trending, but because we have a lived experience of their power, and have watched them transform the lives of our community.
