A morning in the mountains where POTENT: began.
9:00 to 12:00. Breakfast on the mountain, into the forest, then a drink to close.
Before there was a lab or a tea house, there was walking. Years of it, through forests in Myanmar and northern Thailand, learning which mushrooms were worth knowing and which were best left alone. This trip is the short version of that education, in the hills around Chiang Mai.
You will learn to actually see fungi, which is the hard part. Once you can, a forest floor stops being scenery and becomes a network you can read.
The morning
- 9:00 · Khao Soi on the mountain. An hour over breakfast while we talk through what fungi actually are, how they feed a forest, and what to look for once we set off.
- 10:00 · Into the forest. Ninety minutes walking and looking. Finding, identifying and handling what grows here, in the season we are in.
- 11:30 · A drink to finish. Time to sit, go back over what we found, and ask everything you thought of on the walk.
- 12:00 · Finish.
Upcoming trips

Getting there
Travel is not included in the price. The meeting point is up the mountain outside the city, so you have two options:
- Group taxi. We arrange one that leaves together in the morning. Around 300 to 500 baht per person depending on numbers, paid on the day. Tell us when you book if you would like a seat.
- Make your own way. We confirm the exact meeting point when you book.
Good to know
